About Naromi

President Marge Josephson

Naromi Land Trust has been serving Sherman since 1968, working with the town and local citizens to permanently protected open space for the benefit of present and future generations. Naromi owns over 850 acres in Sherman, holds conservation easements on an additional 350 acres, and has helped protect additional property through conservation development projects. NLT actively manages their larger preserves as wildlife habitat and for educational and recreational use by the public. Naromi also manages over 200 acres of productive farmland, and is committed to the preservation of both farmland and farming as important economic and cultural components of the Connecticut landscape. NLT actively collaborates with other environmental organizations, town commissions and the Land Acquisition Fund Advisory Board to prioritize and acquire additional open space in Sherman.

Naromi Land Trust's office space is situated on the second floor of the Sherman Historical Society's Old Store and Museum on Route 37 Center. Long-time Sherman resident Marge Josephson became president of the trust in 2005, and Naromi now has two part-time staff members to help manage their preserves and acquire additional open space to offset increasing development pressure in Northwest Connecticut.
